Improvements in Our Children's Village

New Facilities Added to Gondar BoH Compound from 2025  to mid 2026

We're excited to announce the improvements we made in our children's village facilities. The major achievments made so far include the following:

• Completion of the BoH High School blocs and the begining of high school education in Gondar BoH compound. Apart from creating access to high school education for the children under Institutional Childcare, other community children in the area are now relieved from traveling long distance in search for high schools. 
• The old kitchen has been removed and replaced by a modern kitchen block and facilities.
• Despite the challenges faced over the past eight years with the incomplete and inadequate bakery house, HoH has shown remarkable resilience and effort to produce bread using the old facility. In 2025, however, the bakery house was beatifully finished with complete interior rooms and facilities. Now, the bakery is fully operational producing quality and suffcient bread within short time. The children are privilaged to have access to quality bread every day. 
• For the last eight years, our children’s toilet facility was temporary, built only from wire and iron sheets. This inadequate structure impacted the children’s comfort, safety, and confidence. Recognizing the urgent need, we budgeted, planned, and completed a brand-new, proper facility. Every detail was carefully built for safety and durability. Today, the clean, secure, and fully operational toilets are open, giving children the hygienic and dignified environment they deserve.
• Our community is experiencing a growing demand for early childhood education. Over the past few years, a rising local population has driven up school enrollment requests. Unfortunately, our limited existing facilities meant turning away many young learners due to a critical shortage of classroom space.
  To address this urgent need, we have secured nearly ETB 2,000,000 to construct a new kindergarten block with three classrooms. This expansion will deliver immediate and  lasting benefits like increased capacity to admit more local children and creat a safe and nurturing environment to build cognitive, social, and emotional skills of preschool children. This will lay a strong foundation for future learning that directly supports local families and educational growth.
• A biogas plant has been constructed in the compound which converted the BoH Dairy Farm waste in a useful asset. The animal waste that has been poluting the compound is now used to generate biogas that in turn minimized the high cost of fuelwood that has been purchased for cooking food for over 70 children in the compound. Moreover, the biogas plant now serves as a demonstration site for the local communities to replacate the practice in the area.
