Education support from kindergarten to high school

This program enables vulnerable children to remain with their families while receiving essential support for education, nutrition, healthcare, and psychosocial development. By strengthening family capacity, we help children thrive within their communities.

Program Interventions

Our interventions are implemented through Community OHVC Sponsorship Support and OHVC Family Income Generation Activities (IGA). BoH focuses on community sponsorship programs alongside institutional childcare, including foster care adoption, child reunification, and reintegration programs to ensure children receive the best possible care within family settings.

Our Partnerships

BoH has established partnerships with donor organizations committed to supporting vulnerable children: Haddis Ministry (HM), World's Children, We Saw the Light Children's Village, and Corvallis Gondar Sister City Association (CGSCA).

Haddis Ministry is a USA-based volunteer fundraising team that secures significant funding for all beneficiaries of the community-based childcare program.

Support Services

The program provides comprehensive monthly support including food and nutrition, educational materials, health services, and psychosocial support for targeted children. In 2023 alone, Haddis Ministry supported 201 students (108 male and 93 female) from kindergarten to high school level.

Educational & Nutritional Support

Tutorial classes are arranged to enhance student performance. A key support is the provision of "Faffa" breakfast from Monday to Saturday. Faffa is a wheat flour fortified with skimmed milk powder, chickpeas, sugar, vitamins (A, B1, B2, B6, B12, C, D, Nicotinic Acid, and Folic Acid), minerals (Iron, Iodine, and Calcium phosphate), and enzymes (Faffa Food Products) essential for children's mental and physical growth. School materials including uniforms, school bags, exercise books, book rent, lunch boxes, pens, and pencils are also provided.
