- Phase IV (2018 – 2022) Move to New Compound

-	Phase IV (2018 – 2022) Move to New Compound

In 2019, BoH moved to the new compound where the organization continued to expand programs and services, including housing and feeding children.

-          After the 80 children that were above 18 years of age left the institutional childcare at the end of the 3rd phase due to reintegration with their respective relatives and communities, BoH was supporting 82 children (54M and 28F) during the 4th phase. 30 of these children (19M and 11F) were kids below 5 years age. Al of the children under the institutional childcare privileged to get holistic care with close attention, intensive maternal care, love and emotional attachment.

-     A total of 78 children (42M and 36F) were admitted during this phase and 68% of these children were abandoned babies by their mothers. Increased number of abandoned babies was a growing phenomenon due to difficulty of life faced by mother.

-      BoH has successfully played its role in combating the spread of COVID-19, the global pandemic that claimed a lot of life in the Gondar city as well. The interventions constituted organizing awareness creation events, sanitary materials support to vulnerable groups and emergency relief support to the most needy community members.

-          Five of the children (4M and 1F) admitted during this phase were children with different disabilities. Special care, attention, and maternal attachment was given to these children beyond fulfilling their basic needs.

-          The grown up children under institutional childcare were given life skill training, guidance and counseling, and psychosocial supports by professionals.

-      A total of 42 children (18M and 24F) were reintegrated with their relatives during the phase. Each child was given an establishment money of Birr 5000.00.

-          Domestic child adoption was one of the very good opportunities for abandoned babies that were admitted by BoH. A total of 22 children (7M and 15F) were adopted by well off families from Addis and Gondar city through legal adoption process.

-      As a great success of BoH, the children that were raised for years under institutional childcare are now graduating from higher educational institutions. During this phase 30 students graduated from different universities in first degree and 13 students graduated from collages in diplomas. These graduates are either hired by various organizations or started their own business and are able to lead their life independent of any other support. This heralds attainment of BoH’s vision.

-      In addition to the institutional childcare, BoH has been supporting OVC and children from marginalized families to attend schools. Marginalized families from the local community were receiving various supports to meet their daily needs and also capacitated to get involved in income generating activities. Each year over a thousand children and family heads have been benefiting from this intervention.
