Vegetale gardening and environmental protection in the community
BoH offers trining for community members on vegetable gardening and environmental protection and tree planting. The training includes demonstration of backyard preparation for vegetables growing, how to raise vegetale seedlings and plant them at recommended destances from each other. As vegetables are rich with micronurients, their dietary value and health benefits are made known to the community. While the community benefits from dietary diversification, they generate additinal income from the sell of vegetables.
Since the establishment of the organization, vegetable gardening, environmental greening, apiary, dairy farming, and fattening have been among the major contents of trainings offered to enhance dietary diversification, income generation and environmental protection. The former BoH compound at Samuna Ber and the current one were used as demonstration places for these initiatives. Specific training were designed and offered for the community which enhanced the practice of vegetable gardening and environmental greening. Vegetable seeds and three seedlings are distributed to the communty at appropriate seasons. Today, many community members grow vegetables in their backyards and plant trees in thier areas based on the awareness they gained.
